Cause of Genital Warts

The cause of genital warts is pretty much a mystery even to doctors at this point. They do know that the warts themselves are brought on by an infection in the body. The cause genital warts infection is not known but it is known that it is transmitted from person to person by way of sexual intercourse. It is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases that are known at this point. And even though the cause of genital warts is unknown, they are still working to find a cure. In most cases the disease itself is treatable through a variety of methods that can help to give the patient a better quality of life and a more normal sex life that does not involve any discomfort. In many cases, the sexual intercourse with a person who has genital warts can be very painful and can also cause a lot of bleeding, because when the warts are touched they can bleed easily and when they are rubbed continuously for an extended period of time they will become irritated and raw. This will give the patient a lot of pain and discomfort from which there will be little relief.

There is considerable debate about the exact cause of genital warts. While they are certain that it is caused primarily by the infection, they are also unsure why the infection is not responsive to the medications that have been thrown at it all these years. The initial treatments that were raised for genital warts upon their discovery were similar to the ones for other sexually transmitted diseases. Sulfur treatments were prescribed on a regular basis and did very little to help or even stop the spread of the disease. This method of treating genital warts was painful and could be quite deadly. Famed gangster Al Capone was being treated for a sexually transmitted disease with sulfur while he was in prison. His condition worsened to the point that he was released and eventually died from the treatments. It was discovered that those type of treatments caused severe brain damage in the people and their usage was stopped. This meant that there was no effective treatment for genital warts or any other sexually transmitted disease. Researchers soon began looking into the cause of genital warts and found the classic markers of infection which they took to mean that it was curable.

In the end, the discovery of the infect that is the root cause of genital warts did very little to help alleviate the pain and discomfort for the patients. Many people who contracted the disease agreed to go through clinical studies in an effort to find a cure. These studies are often times difficult on the patient as they tend to be very invasive and overall painful. This does not mean that more and more people do not go through them. There is always hope that the cause of genital warts will help to lead to a cure and thus provide relief for the millions of people that suffer from genital warts. Even though there have been countless clinical studies performed with a wide array of drugs, there has been little progress. Most often the researchers find that the cause of genital warts, the infection, is not responsive to the medications and thus they become of no use to anyone involved. The infection that is the apparent cause of genital warts is somewhat powerful in the hold it keeps on the human body. There is evidence that it is a new breed of infection that people have yet to build an immunity too. This is why the cause of genital warts was so long in coming to light because the normal tests for infection in the body were not picking up the infection and thus the doctors were stumped as to the appearance of the warts. Now that there is a test that will show the infection as the cause of genital warts there is reason to believe that through genetic mapping we could possibly determine the ways in which to fight the disease. This is still years in the making and there is always the chance that no cure will ever be found. Just like the common cold, there is some things in this world that were just not meant to be defeated and that is a point of distress for those who have the cause of genital warts, the infection.

The doctors that are involved in the research are hoping that by studying all of the cases that come through, they will be able to determine how the cause of genital warts relates to the underlying infection and manifestation of the warts and other outward symptoms. This may be proof positive that there is hope out there and eventually the cure will be discovered.
